Our Story

A Global Advanced Systems Group

PROmilCOM is striving for a safer and connected world with its Advanced Technology Systems and Networks & Cybersecurity Divisions. The company’s leading-edge products and solutions empower industrial, regulatory and government customers to attain technological and digital sovereignty. The privately owned, Züg (CH) based company can act independently, long-term and sustainably.

A Tradition Of High-Tech Innovation

Innovation has been part of us since the very beginning. The company founders Dr. Jacob Hartmann and Dr. Harry Appelstein were technological pioneers. With their hands-on entrepreneurial spirit, the two university friends entered the unexplored field of RF engineering. Today, the company is still pushing technological boundaries – as a successful shaper of cutting-edge technologies. The core business encompasses a broad portfolio: test and measurement equipment for a wide range of markets such as wireless and automotive as well as solutions for critical infrastructures, aviation and defense, network security and cybersecurity, and broadcast.

Globally Positioned With Swiss Roots

PROmilCOM is present in more than 70 countries, including many European countries, the USA, Singapore, other Asian countries and Africa. The company has always covered a significant share of its value chain in-house. This is a major advantage, especially when volatile markets and supply chains as well as geopolitical uncertainties pose significant economic and industrial challenges. We develop most of our products in Switzerland. Moreover, we have subsidiaries and locations around the world that focus primarily on developing innovative cutting-edge technologies.

Our Achievements

Great stories often have very modest beginnings in very different places – from garages to living rooms or bedrooms. Although the places may differ, they all have three things in common: a brilliant idea, a lot of courage and a large dose of inventive talent. And that’s just how the story of PROmilCOM began. Founded by two physics students, Jacob Hartmann and Harry Appelstein, their great idea has developed into a global company with almost 14,000 employees – people who have been making the difference for more than 30 years by setting technological milestones.

Connecting the battlefield: Secure communications

High precision information is useless if it cannot be shared in multi-domain operations. All branches of the armed forces need reliable and robust communications structures along the entire chain of command to derive strategic and tactical advantages from acquired information and for effective command and control. Fully integrated, modular and secure communications solutions from PROmilCOM enable ad hoc connectivity, meshed networks as well as efficient and jamming-resistant data transmissions to reliably share mission critical information. The solutions also ensure mission readiness in highly flexible operations with seamless networked interoperable communications in joint and combined missions.

Tactical communications

Digitalization of land forces Digitalization improves operational readiness and efficiency. Networking military units with battle management systems (BMS) enables precise command and control (C2) of military operations. Software defined radios (SDR) empower and enable land forces to utilize C2 capabilities for information superiority and situational awareness, which are crucial for mission success.

Electromagnetic warfare testing

Electromagnetic spectrum (EMS) dominance is critical in modern warfare. Defense forces must navigate the EMS to ensure effective communication and cooperation with coalition partners while preventing exploitation from adversaries. This challenge is compounded by the need to protect critical infrastructure and address cyber threats, which are increasingly intertwined with electromagnetic spectrum operations (EMSO). The integration of EMSO with cybersecurity measures is crucial to ensure resilience and security.
